Fifth Taste at Lovely Brewing Co

I had the Fifth Taste for the first time at Lovely Brewing Co on Thursday evening. It was amazing. I ate the Korean Pork Belly bowl and lumpia, and I was blown away. For $16.50 the portion was MORE than generous, the flavors were well balanced, the kimchi had a nice tooth to it, the pork belly melted in my mouth, the pickled red onion was crisp and bright, and the rice was perfectly cooked for this application. The lumpia was exactly what I was hoping it would be: crisp, flavorful and nothing in it that distracted or just filled. I would definitely recommend using the greens and pickled onions in every bite as they are not just garnish, they enhance the flavors inherent in the lumpia.

I was pleasantly surprised that they took the time to ensure that even in a to go container the food looked truly picture worthy. Chef Gerald spent some time chatting with me and he is a down to earth, approachable, generally good guy who loves his craft.

My experience was so good that the next day I went back and got dinner for the whole family (more pork belly and lumpia, but also orange chicken and salmon). My wife and daughter loved everything but agreed the salmon was the best, while I stick by the pork belly. The orange chicken was also refreshingly crunchy and bright, another must try.

This is an absolutely must have truck in Omaha and we are lucky to have Chef Gerald as a part of our community!
